A live dive into the Mediterranean seabed, without students having to leave their classrooms? It’s possible! On Tuesday, February 4, 2,500 students experienced a unique adventure thanks to Septentrion live “Ecol’ogie 3”! From their classroom, these young students dived virtually into the depths of Frioul’s Tiboulen islet, discovering the richness and fragility of Marseille’s underwater world.

A live chat with our animator diver, Olivier Bianchimani, and our surface animator aboard the Cromagnon boat, Solène Basthard-Bogain, gave the students the opportunity to ask questions and a better understanding of the importance to protect the ocean. Our special guest, Morgan Bourc’his, enriched the experience with concrete actions such as underwater waste collection and participatory science counts, illustrating to the young ones the importance of everyone’s involvement in protecting the marine environment.

Raising awareness of the need to preserve marine ecosystems is a priority for developing responsible behavior in future generations! This underwater live show, marking the mid-point of the Decade of Ocean Sciences 2021-2030 and the launch of the Year of the Sea 2025, invited these young people to get involved in a powerful moment of learning and commitment.

A huge thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this live event, and to our financial partners – Ville de Marseille, Département des Bouches-du-Rhône – and technical partners – Dakofilm, Subspace Pictures, COPETECH SM – who faithfully accompany us in this educational adventure.
