Think of an area of the Mediterranean where the light gradually fades, at depths ranging from 30 to 150 meters. This is the mesophotic zone, one of the least understood parts of the Mediterranean, particularly in France. Yet it is a vital area that serves as a natural refuge for many marine species threatened by climate change and human pressures.
CANOPY is a major new scientific project led by Septentrion Environnement, aimed at revealing, mapping, and understanding this little-known zone in the French Mediterranean.
