After several months of intensive preparation, our students in the Bachelor’s program in Marine and Coastal Environment Management and Protection at Campus Nature Provence completed a memorable week-long cleanup project near Château d’If.
Before arriving at the cleanup site, they underwent training in various techniques to gain a comprehensive understanding of the area:
• Two site surveys using a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV)
• More than 10 dives to conduct photogrammetry of the site
• Five dives to perform an ecological assessment of the Posidonia seagrass bed
This was followed by hours of organization and planning led by the students and supervised by instructors from Septentrion Environnement. As CAH1B-certified professional divers, they managed this educational project from start to finish: from preparation through to execution. And the results speak for themselves: 102 tires, weighing over 5.5 tons, were removed from the seabed in just three and a half days.
A huge congratulations to them for their motivation and the quality of their work. It was truly inspiring to see them so dedicated.
